Sometimes I find myself trying to explain to friends and collaborators what makes a Logo designer different from another one and why, so I decided to write this article to help you better understand the role of the Logo designer and hopefully give you some hopeful advice on how to choose the best Logo designer for your business.
The Logo Designer
Let’s start by stating that a Logo Designer is a Graphic Designer who specializes in the creation of Logos for Business; because of that, he needs to have a deep understanding of what a specific company needs, analyzing the target audience and researching before starting any design work. The design of a Logo takes time and research, so beware when reading that someone is willing to create a logo for you in 24 hours. While it’s certainly possible to design a beautiful icon in 24 hours, it’s almost impossible to perform all the needed research and study in that small amount of time, therefore the result will be pleasant for the eyes but almost useless for the Business.
The Logo Design Process
Every Logo designer has his own design process, and that’s one of the most important factors to keep under consideration when looking for a Logo designer online. Every Design process should focus on delivering the best experience and the most effective design for the client. If you want to know more about the Design process, I wrote an article about it, you can read it here.
Speaking of design processes, another important aspect to consider when choosing the best logo designer for your business is the Goal Setting. Most people underestimate the importance of the Logo for their Business, they ignore the work behind it and choose a Logo designer basing their opinions solely on the fanciness of the work in their portfolio. While some Logos and Symbols may look cool and clever, they may not be right for your business. If you run an elegant, old-fashioned Law Firm, a colorful, shaded and modern icon may not be optimal for you. This can be avoided by setting clear goals and expectations at the beginning of the project.
Why do you need a Logo?
During your searching for a Logo Designer online, you may find a lot of Designers asking you “Why do you need a Logo?”
As obvious as it may seem, this question is actually a good signal: it usually shows that the designer cares about your project and he’s willing to know more about you beforehand. Answering this question will help the designer understand your needs better. What problems do you want to solve? Can your problem be solved with a new Logo?
Every Logo designer has an online portfolio where he showcases his best work. Take a look at his portfolio and focus on:
1. Similar projects.
Are there projects similar to your Business?
Is there a section where you can read his process?
3. Quality over quantity.
A lot of work doesn’t necessarily mean quality work.
Here on my website, you can see my portfolio on my homepage, but there are a lot of different platforms where a designer can upload his work.
You can easily find talented designers on Behance and Dribbble, as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
